Hello Team,
My name is Joshua Lowry, the ExxonMobil Cycling Team Captain. I want to thank you for being a part of the team and raising money for the National MS Society as part of the BP MS150 event in 2012. I hope that everyone has had a chance to start riding in the training series (events posted on the upcoming events calendar).
Last year we raised over $445,000, and this year we are on our way with $26,146. Did you know that the average pledge last year was $1,124 per rider? There is a whole wealth of information available on the MS150 website about Fundraising. Please check out the tools available to you, and keep your eyes out for an upcoming social later this month about fundraising.
The ExxonMobil Cycling Team and the Energy Riders Training Series cares about your safety! This is why we require that every cyclist take the Group Riding Skills Class every 3 years. Please visit our Safety Page to find out how you can get enrolled in the course as well as read up on some additional safety resources.
See you safely on the road,
Joshua R. Lowry
Our Elves and More Helmet Fundraiser and Helmet Fitting went very well this year. We were able to fund more than 1400 helmets this year! Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Special Thanks to volunteers Jim Robin and Eric Powell for helping to coordinate donations and volunteers for the fitting event.
Thank you for being patient with our technical difficulties this week. Please email if you have any existing technical difficulties.
Due to the confirmation emails being sent back to us occasionally we will be doing the team motel registration abased on when you were sent your registration notice (instead of finishing registration for the team).
Please continue to register, and we will continue to make improvments.
We have updated the Upcoming Events page as well as the Contacts Page.
Please Pardon Our Mess
Welcome to version 1.0 of our new web system. If you have not already done so, please register.
Team members have a special opportunity to get connected to a local Houston "Cycling Community Event". Houston-based Elves & More provides bikes to disadvantaged school aged children in the Greater Houston area. These children have to "earn" their bike by making a contract with his or her school to commit to improve in one or more areas.
While it is great that under-privileged kids are receiving bikes, it is more important that they receive a helmet - what some would consider a 'discretionary purchase'!! For the fourth year, Team member Eric Powell is making a personal challenge to the EM Cycling Team to raise money to purchase helmets. The goal is to purchase 1,200 helmets (@ approx. $7/helmet). We need to have all donations made by mid-November to allow time to order the helmets.
Team members will also help fit these helmets during the bike delivery on Saturday, December 17. Our Team has been assigned one of the area charter schools - Brays Oak YES Prep Public School for bike delivery and helmet fitting.00 to purchase the remaining helmets.
Details of the program, and coordinated Team efforts, are available on the Team Updates page to help you decide how you can give back to your community in one of the largest cycling community service events in the United States.
Registration for the 2012 MS 150 has begun and will remain open until the desired number of registrations has been reached. Don't delay... The number of riders for the BP MS 150 will be capped again in 2012.
Registration is first-come, first-served. DO NOT DELAY YOUR REGISTRATION!!
A separate Team registration, which includes a Team jersey, will be begin in November.
The ExxonMobil Cycling Team pulls together riders of all abilities to promote the sport of cycling for fun, fitness and community involvement. We try to ride year round, and our big push each year is the BP MS 150 from Houston to Austin.
Improving rider safety is a key focus of the Team. This is accomplished by special attention being placed on Safety Training as well as proper Conditioning Training. The Team web site provides a thorough on-line resource for cycling safety and training information. In addition to suggested ride routes to help you get ready, information can also be found to help the New Rider prepare a training plan.
